Rosemarie TROCKEL

Looking at a work of contemporary art, what is more immediate – and banal – is the search of meaning. Though historical avant-gardes and second avant-gardes advised us of the uselessness of limiting our inquiry on a visual circuit relatively insignificant the ritual mania of searching a sense does not stop pursuing us.
Rosemarie Trockel’s work, with it apparent absurdity and, at the same time, its iconographical familiarity, rejects whatever interpretation; it requests, instead of a hermeneutical approach, an erotic one, based on our sensorial capacities.
We suggest who can not do without instructions to think of the campaign against seal hunting and of a possible analogy between human body and animal body.
